CROSSFIT JOZI SPRING THROWDOWN

The CFJ Spring Throwdown is an annual in-house competition open to athletes of all fitness levels from both CrossFit Jozi facilities. It’s an opportunity to express your fitness, experience a different side of CrossFit, and to get to know more of your fellow members.

This year’s Spring Throwdown is a team event made up by two athletes of the same gender. Regardless of experience and level of fitness, all athletes will be able to participate. You may pair up with anyone you choose, of any skill level or fitness ability!

This year’s Throwdown Event 1 will take place on Friday late afternoon / evening, as part of our Pinktober campaign to raise awareness for the Pink Drive initiative.

What is the Spring Throwdown?

It’s a fitness competition for all members of both CFJ facilities. An opportunity to test the fitness you develop in training, a community get-together, and exposure to the other side of CrossFit – competing.

 

What do we do?

You compete in three events. Each event is like a workout you will have done in class. There’ll be a mix of strength, skill and conditioning in the events. After all of that, we hang out over some food and beverages at Smooth Brew!

 

Will it be tough?

Absolutely! Every class you come to is a challenge, so each event will be difficult too. But it will only be as tough as you want it to be. While we will be awarding prizes to the winners, the real intention of the event is participation. The most challenging part of the event is having to do the three workouts, but what we do in class will have you more than ready. The coaches will also be on hand to ensure that no one is stuck trying to do something they genuinely cannot – your safety is everything to us.

 

What if I’m not fit enough?

If you’ve completed our GroundWork program, and trained in the regular classes consistently for three months, you’ll be fit enough. There will be different levels of programming, just as we do in class, and it will be programmed for the everyday CrossFitter.

 

What if it’s ‘too easy?’

Yeah, right! As Tommy Hackenbruck says, “You don’t need harder workouts, you need to go harder in your workouts.” The events will be programmed to challenge the fittest athletes we have, while being safe enough for our least experienced athletes to perform.

 

How long will it be?

The event will kick of at 10:30, sharp, and finish around 18:00. The social will carry on until as late as you can handle.

 

Can we bring non-members to watch?

Yes please!

 

I don’t want to compete but would still like to be a part of the event.
